SgtMaj Albert S. Wilson, Jr.

SgtMaj Albert S. Wilson Jr., 72, died peacefully in his Harlingen, TX home on February 15, 2021.  He retired from the United States Marine Corps in June of 1997 after 30 years of dedicated service.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned two Purple Hearts, and of the Iraq War.

He would continue to wear his uniform for another 19 years as instructor and staff member at the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, TX, doing what he loved - being a mentor and a role model to young men.

SgtMaj Wilson was a brave and loyal Marine as well as a loving husband.  He married Maryann Morano in 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Maryann M. Wilson; son, Timothy; daughter-in-law, Emiko; step-daughters, Louise DiGioia-Jones (Clifton), Maryann Rosieo, and Michelle Gineille (Raymond). He had 22 grandchildren: Yumi, Maya, Nicholas, Daisia, Aniya, Leandra, Nevaeh, Cianna, Clifton Jr., Elijah, Michael, Andrew, joe, Savanna, Amber, Megan, Wyette, Travis, Matthew, Rachelle, Nicholas and Emma.  He is also survived by two sisters, Linda Tyrell and Deborah Wool.

The Wilson family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. SgtMaj Wilson will be laid to rest with full military honors on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
