Simon Fonseca, Jr.

d. February 12, 2021

Simon Fonseca, Jr. went home to our Lord on February 12, 2021 in San Antonio at the age of 51 after a courageous battle with COVID19.

Simon Jr. was born to Simon and Delia Fonseca in Harlingen, TX but grew up in San Benito, TX. Throughout his life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those around him. No matter what the occasion, he was chosen to lead us in prayer.

After working as a licensed paramedic, Simon then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He was employed by University Hospital in San Antonio for his entire nursing career. He was dedicated to selflessly serving others throughout his personal life and career and shone his warm light on all those around him.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all spending time with his family and friends.  He was generous in every sense of the word.  Simon had a genuinely kind spirit yet with a mischievous sense of humor that he used to keep you guessing.  He was always the life of the party, and his impromptu singing, bold laugh and enveloping hugs will be dearly missed. He was a beautiful son to his parents and a dear brother to many of the people he met.

Simon joins his grandparents, Ramon and Maria Pena and Apolonio and Eva Fonseca, in Heaven.

He is survived by his parents, Simon and Delia Fonseca; sisters, Sandra (Stephen) Gore and Chelsea (Philip) Padel; nieces and nephew Lindsey Gore, Liam Gore, Natalie Padel, and Lillian Padel; godson, Raymond Pena; and his beloved beagle, Darla.

Due to current health concerns, a celebration of life will be held at a future date.
