Steven Craig Bard, 77, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Valley Baptist Medical Center, from complications following a fall on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Valley Baptist Medical Center.

Steve was born Dec. 2, 1947, at Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi. His first home was his parents' apartment over the Rialto theater in Sinton, Texas, where his father was the manager. Mom, Dad, sister Robin and he lived there about a year.

Steve graduated from Harlingen High School, Class of 1966. Go Cardinals! He attended Texas A&I University, Kingsville, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and served in Taiwan 1968-1969; the Mekong Delta, South Vietnam, 1969-1970; Norton AFB, San Bernardino, CA, 1970-1971. He was a sergeant when honorably discharged in 1971. Afterwards, he earned an Associate in Arts Degree in San Bernardino, CA, 1973; Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Finance-Real Estate Degree, California State University, Long Beach, CA, 1978; Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Maintenance Technology at Texas State Technical College, Harlingen, Texas, 1992.

Steve loved cars, motorcycles, photography, and music, especially the music of The Moody Blues. Steve had an appetite for learning and expanding his knowledge of photography, history, TV shows, movies, and woodworking. He was skillful and handy at fixing things for friends and family.

He worked with his Dad and brother selling RVs, mobile homes, new & used vehicles, and explored working at a variety of different vocations until he landed on substitute teaching for the Harlingen and La Feria school districts for 13 years, which seemed to suit him until retirement.

Steve was a kind, gentle and private good-hearted soul with a great laugh and cherished smile. He was loved very much and will be missed by all who knew him.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents Oscar Newton (O.N.) Bard and Sarah Lee Saner Bard; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. A.P Wright and Mr. and Mrs. James Monroe Saner, and many aunts and uncles.

Steve is survived by his sister Robin Bard Datry, brother-in-law Phil Datry; nephews Ryan Datry and Evan Datry; and his brother Mark A. Bard.

Steve wished to be cremated and there will be no funeral/memorial. He is always in our hearts.
