Sue Webb Rowe of San Benito, 79 years old, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 19th, to be present with her Lord and savior Jesus. She was surrounded by her loving family after a hard fought battle with cancer for the last two years.
Sue was the second child born to her parents, John Webb and Mildred (Harris) Webb Boyette on February 18, 1944 in Ozan, Arkansas. Sue spent her childhood in Ozan and graduated from Hope High School. She earned her LVN nursing license before marrying her high school sweetheart, Thomas (Tom) Rowe, in 1963. After living a short time in Victoria, Texas they moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1968 where Tom began a career in a farm and construction equipment dealership. Sue dedicated her life as a stay at home mom to their three children Dana, Michael, and Suzanne. Sue continued her education and graduated in 1994 to become a Registered Nurse. She worked for various agencies and the Texas State hospital for TB patients.
Sue was an amazing cook and never shied away from trying new recipes or sharing her beloved recipes with others. Chocolate was her weakness and convincing her to cook a cake or pie was not difficult. Sewing and other homemaking skills made her an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. She learned many different things such as painting and ceramics. She took cake decorating classes and made many birthday and special occasion cakes for friends and family. She learned basic Spanish when she moved here and in spite of her Southern drawl, communicated easily when needed.
One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother to her six grandchildren. As a praying mother and grandmother, she faithfully made nightly calls to her sister Patricia where they would pray for their families and our nation.
Sue is survived by her daughter Dana Rowe; son Michael (Lezlie) Rowe; and daughter Suzanne Thomas; her six grandchildren, Chase North, Blake Thomas, Noah Thomas, Grayson Rowe, Olivia Rowe, and Caroline Rowe; brother Harold (Tommie) Webb, sister Patricia Bingham and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband Tom; parents, John and Mildred (Harris) Webb Boyette.
