Sylvia (Mendoza) Morrison

Sylvia Morrison, 64, peacefully passed from this life surrounded by her loving family on January 28, 2021.  She was born to Vicente Mendoza and Guadalupe Mancillas Mendoza on June 14, 1956 in San Benito, Texas.

Sylvia retired from the Texas Department of Aging and Disability after 35 years of dedicated service.  In her leisure time, she enjoyed outdoor activities, sports, spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Left to treasure Sylvia’s memory is her husband, William R. “Bill” Morrison; daughters, Belinda Silva, Sandra Silva, Theresa (Preston) Antunez; son, Stephen (Adriana) Morrison; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  Also left to treasure Sylvia’s memory are her parents, Vicente and Guadalupe M. Mendoza; siblings, Rojerio (Anna) Mendoza, Angie Villarreal, Janie Mendoza, Vicente (Anna) Mendoza; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Reina.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mateo and Celia Mancillas; nephew, Eduardo “Eddie” Mendoza; in-laws, Regina and Colonel William Morrison.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 3. 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A prayer service will begin Wednesday evening at 7 o’clock. (Click the link below to view a live-stream of the prayer service.) A graveside service and interment will take place Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are John Damien Banda, Michael Banda, Gabriel Mendoza, Matthew Mendoza, Vicente Mendoza, Jr., and Vicente Mendoza III. Honorary pallbearers are Rojerio Mendoza, Ryan Ledesma, Jacob Ledesma, and Nathaniel Banda.

Sylvia’s family thanks Kindred Hospice staff and Vanessa Valdez, RN for their kind, compassionate care.
