Teodoro Gómez

Teodoro Gómez peacefully passed from this life on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 84 years of age.  He was born to the late Luciano Palomo Gómez and María Hernandez Gómez on November 9, 1937 in San Benito, Texas.

He retired from the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District after more than 35 years of faithful service in the Maintenance Department.

Teodoro enjoyed music.  He loved to dance and sing and, was known for the fedora that he wore – a black one in the fall and winter and a white one in the spring and summer. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in San Benito.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Juanita Gómez: his parents, Luciano P. and María H. Gómez; and sisters, Berta Gómez Jalomo and Viola Gómez Gonzales.

Left to treasure Teodoro’s memory are his children, Isabel (Abel) Martínez and Sergio (Sara) Vásquez; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his brothers, Francisco (Elvia) Gómez, Bernabé (Noema) Gómez, and Luciano (Adela) Gómez, Jr.; and sisters, Beatrice (Cristóbal) Gonzales and Graciela (Francisco) Castañeda.

The Gomez family wishes to thank the caring staff of Kindred Hospice for their compassionate care of Teodoro.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. (Click the link below to view a livestream of the recitation of the Holy Rosary)

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Chapel A of the funeral home. (Click the link below to view a livestream of the Funeral Liturgy) Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Teodoro’s nephews: Frank G. Castañeda, Ismael Jalomo, Frank Jalomo, Israel Jalomo, Francisco “Cayo” Gonzales, and Cristóbal Gonzales, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Cristóbal Gonzales, Francisco Gómez, Francisco Castañeda, Arnold Garcia, and Daniel Guzmán.
