Thelma G. Rhyner

August 15, 1931 — July 4, 2021

Thelma Lee Goode Rhyner, a lifelong resident of Lozano, Texas passed into eternal life on Sunday, July 4, 2021.

Thelma was born on August 15, 1931 in Rio Hondo, Texas to Joe Goode and Nora Prichard Goode.  She was united in marriage to Walter Fred Rhyner on December 16, 1949.  He proceeded her in death on January 30, 2016.  They shared 66 blissful years of marriage.  Walter and Thelma were of Lutheran faith.

Thelma was a homemaker and enjoyed preparing meals for her family.  She was an excellent cook and baker.  She worked as a teaching assistant for 20 years for the Rio Hondo ISD.  Through the years, she enjoyed seeing ex-students.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother J.P. Goode and sister Margaret Housley.  She is survived by her daughters, Connie (Gary) Erskine and Becky (Pat) Peacock; son Robby; grandchildren Philip Peacock, Rachel (Brian) Schupp, Tricia (Paul) Brown, Lori Erskine (fiancée Shane Barthelmess) , Summer Erskine, and Brazos Peacock; great-grandchildren Noah, Asher and Ezra Schupp, Tatum and Rio Brown; sister Carrie (Tom) Nolen; sister-in-law Joyce Goode; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

We draw strength from knowing that Thelma is healed, happy, and whole with the Lord.

The family would like to thank all the incredible doctors, nurses at Harlingen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and her caregiver, Silvia Fonseca who helped her over the last several years.

Thelma’s family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home with a graveside service to celebrate Thelma’s life at 2:00 PM at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
