Viola (Cantú) Díaz

Viola C. Díaz, 87, entered into eternal peace surrounded by her loving family October 28, 2022. She was born to late Alfredo and Manuela Cantú May 25, 1935 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, México. She was a longtime resident of San Benito, Texas.

Viola was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, listening and dancing to music, and spending time with her family. She was dearly loved by all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, José G. Díaz; her parents, Alfredo and Manuela Cantú; her sisters, Ester Martinez, Raquel Contreras and Elia Martinez; and one brother, Andres Cantú.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sylvia Villela (Juan), Belia Jimenez (Noe), Mari Garza (Mario), José G. Díaz (Anabel Martinez), Jose Díaz (Leticia Canales), Gustavo Díaz (Sylvia Longoria) Dolores Villela (Alfredo). Viola is also survived by her brother, Alfredo Cantú; her sisters, Dora Martinez, Nélida López, and Imelda Cantú; twenty-eight grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viola’s family will receive relatives and friends Monday, October 31, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin Monday at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 8:30 a.m.  A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Following the service, Viola will be laid to rest at Esparza Cemetery in El Ranchito, Texas.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Juan Villela Jr., Mark Jimenez, Angel Díaz, Raymundo Díaz, Gustavo R. Díaz, José Díaz Jr., and Jacob Villela. Noe Jimenez Jr. will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
