Wilbron W. Stanteen

Wilbron Wayne Stanteen, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, in The Woodlands, Texas.

Wilbron was born August 2, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas, to Marshall George and Myrtle Stanteen. He grew up in San Antonio, where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He then went to Texas A&I in Kingsville, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1964. He married his high school sweetheart, Genevieve (Geney) Hawkins, in 1964. Shortly after their wedding, they moved to Harlingen, Texas, which they called home for all their married lives. Wilbron was a retired CPA, starting his career at Firestone, and then a partner at Mothershed, Hamilton, Day, and Mayo Accounting firm. He wrapped up his career working in the banking industry. He and Geney enjoyed a blessed marriage for 54 years and raised three sons in a loving Christian home.

Wilbron served as a deacon at FBC Harlingen and Calvary Baptist Church. He also served his church (Calvary Baptist) as a volunteer Finance Director. After retirement, Wilbron spent time fishing, woodworking, and investing in the deep friendships he developed during his time in Harlingen.

Wilbron was preceded in death in 2018 by his wife of 54 years, Geney Stanteen. He is survived by his sons Jeff (Erin) of Spring, TX, Kenny (Cassie) of Clinton, MS, and Larry (Carey) of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren Hunter (Katherine), Chandler (Samantha), Madeline (Isaac), Emma Grace, Chelsea, Cade, Logan, and Nathan, and two great grandchildren (Hunter & Katherine) Esther and Sophie. The family would like to express deep gratitude to Geney’s sister, our Aunt Judy, for her loving help in the last few weeks of Wilbron’s life.

A celebration of Wilbron’s life will be held Saturday, April 26th, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 1815 N 7th Street, Harlingen, Texas.
