Dalia M. "Marcie" (Alatorre) Castro

June 2, 1958 — September 12, 2020

We are heartbroken to announce that Dalia Maricela "Marcie" Castro, 62, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, died at her home in San Antonio, Texas on September 12, 2020. Her family is deeply saddened by her sudden passing.

Marcie was born on June 2, 1958. As a child, she was her mother's little helper, always eager to assist with household chores and with caring for her younger siblings. She was a graduate of San Benito High School, Class of 1977, where she played softball for the Lady Greyhounds. After high school, she moved to San Antonio where she met and fell in love with Ramiro Castro (of Laredo, Texas), and they were married in 1996. Marcie spent the rest of her life residing in San Antonio, with a career in accounting and finance.

Everyone who was fortunate enough to have Marcie in their lives remembers her infectious smile, her caring & kind soul, her strong work ethic, and her loving and very generous spirit. She cared deeply for her family and friends and was always ready to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. If she wasn't doting on her fur babies, she was being the best aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She had a passion for traveling, spending time at the lake, boating, fishing the shores of South Padre Island, and weekend barbecues at home.

Marcie is survived by her beloved husband Ramiro Castro; parents, Andres & Dalia Robles; siblings, Rene Alatorre (Rosie), Sonia Weaver (Gilbert), Martha Rogers, Nancy Casas (Francisco), Cynthia Schoen (Robert), Andrew Ignacio Robles (John), and Evelyn Robles. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Alfredo Castro (Herminia), Jesus Castro (Bonita), Alberto Castro (Fabiola); her sisters-in-law, Beatrice Castro and Graciela Castro; and her dear sister-by-friendship, Patricia Bedoy, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, & uncles.

She is preceded in death by her loving sister Graciela "Gracie" Stephens, nephew Francisco Casas III, cousin Javier Castillo, aunt Esther Robles Guajardo, her close friend Lorena, and her adored fur baby, Ivan.

Marcie’s family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home. A talk will begin Friday at 7:30 p.m. Interment will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at San Benito Memorial Park (City Cemetery).
