María Guadalupe Guerra, 89, peacefully passed from this life September 19, 2022. She was born June 15, 1933 to the late Higinio Guerra and Angelita Bueno Guerra in El Ranchito, Texas.
She loved playing bingo and loteria as well as music and dancing. However, her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
María was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Juan Guerra, Higinio Guerra Jr., María Elena Balli, Jose Ángel Guerra, Jorge Guerra, Calistro Guerra, and Roberto Guillermo Guerra; and son-in-law, Jim Dickerson.
Left to treasure her memory are her children, Joe (Pam) Martinez, George (Rosa) Martinez, Blaz (Esther) Martinez, Norma Dickerson, and Elma (Stan) Perdue. Maria also leaves behind seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren who she adored.
Special thanks to the caring nurses and staff of The Heights of Alamo for the excellent care that Maria received. Also heartfelt thanks to Allstate Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Maria’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will start at 7 o’clock in the evening. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home to St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in El Ranchito, Texas where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Following the Mass, the funeral procession will depart the church to Mont Meta Memorial Park where Maria will be laid to rest.
