Maria Elena (Montes) De Jesus

Maria Elena “Nena” Montes De Jesus, 52, passed peacefully from this life on July 23, 2020.  She was born to Jose and Ramona Corona Montes on August 18, 1967 in San Benito, Texas.

Maria Elena enjoyed working with children and, for many years, was employed by San Benito CISD and Los Fresnos CISD as paraprofessional.  After leaving her school district employment, Maria Elena dedicated her time and energy full-time to her family.  She was very devoted to her children and a wonderful, loving grandmother. In her leisure time, she enjoyed arts and crafts, working in her yard, and spending time with her friends and family.    Maria Elena was a die-hard San Benito Greyhound fan.

Maria Elena is survived by her husband, Eufemio “Pepe” De Jesus Dominguez; her children, April Hernandez, Amy Garza, and Jaime Coronado, Jr.; granddaughter, Ariel Vega; siblings, Maria Inez Leatherwood, Josefina Avelar, Jose Martin Montes, Dora E. Gonzalez, Thelma Sanchez, Rosa Montes, and Jorge Luis Montes; and her parents, Jose and Ramona C. Montes.

Visitation will take place at San Benito Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  A Rite of Committal ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Mont Meta Memorial Park.  Maria Elena will then be laid to rest.
