Nancy Lynn (Elam) Ramee passed away unexpectedly March 6, 2023, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. Nancy was born on July 12, 1959 to Jane Sullivan Elam and Billy Joe Elam in Pampa, Texas.
Left to treasure Nancy’s memory are her children, Austin and Elizabeth Ramee; her siblings, Bridget Elam Hettish and Jim (Mundi) Elam; niece, Sarah Hettish Parker; nephews, Brian Hettish, James Elam and Rawlings Elam; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was a graduate of Houston’s Westchester High School, Class of 1978. After, she attended Southwest Texas State University where she excelled as a student-athlete as a member of the Bobcat Volleyball team.
Nancy was a Harlingen, Texas resident for over thirty-five years and was a member of the Harlingen Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer Boy Scout leader and a youth basketball coach. She was a full-time massage therapist in the 1990s. She always wanted to make people feel better and was notorious for giving impromptu massages in the stands during her daughter’s volleyball and soccer games.
In 2021, Nancy started working from home as a customer service representative. At the time of her passing, she worked for the wonderful company “TaskUs”. With a natural gift of gab, she thrived in her work while helping others. Nancy’s work brought her great joy and satisfaction. Her employer frequently received kudo calls from consumers whom she assisted stating she was just so kind, understanding and helpful.
She was an avid member of bunko and poker groups. Nancy taught many of Austin and Elizabeth’s friends how to play poker, Uno, Phase 10, Monopoly and many other games.
Nancy’s family and friends will gather to celebrate her life and legacy on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A Time of Sharing will begin at 2:00 p.m.
